I see that there is a lot of people with problems after surgery. I am 3 weeks out and I don't have any. I had hit a stall but I seem to be losing again. Not as fast as before but still good. I am now on the soft food phase and so far I have NEVER thrown up. I DON'T have consitpation or diarreha. I can eat peppers, squash, tomatoes, sausage, chile, eggs, cheese, etc. I have not tried any meat that has not been ground up. I exercise with out getting light headed and am able to drink very well. I am scared that since I have NO problems at all, that it will be too easy to gain weight back. Is there anyone out there that has had it this easy that had been sucessful?

I'm 5 months out and I really haven't had any problems either. (Knock on wood - or something harder, like my head) I did hit a phase where things that worked one day didn't necessarily sit well the next time I had them. My doc said that was the trial and error period.

Good Luck !!!!

It is good to hear that I am normal in this. Thanks for the reply. I google your town because I had never heard of it. It really looks small on the map. Is it? I have never been to that area of the state. Looks interesting. How do you like it there?

Me, Me, Me!!!  I can eat ANYTHING and EVERYTHING within moderation and have NEVER dumped!!! I too worry that I will definately have to have much more self control to be successful!!  It is also very easy to fall into old indulgences, but the key word is moderation!! My weakness post op is M&M's, but instead of having the entire pack, I am satisfied with maybe 5!!  Just try to eat healthy and stay away from the bad foods!! The trigger foods are BAD!! Because they keep you coming back for more!
I am 10 months out and have lost 158lbs.  It sounds like you are doing great!! Just take caution when trying new foods and I guess be thankful that you do not dump, because it does not sound enjoyable at all!!!

Being only 3 weeks out today I really haven't had much of a chance to indulge in anything bad yet. I only hope my choices are as good later as them have been so far. I missed seeing you at the J'ville get together. I hope you will make it next time.

Me!  I never officially dumped (knock on wood.)  If I ate too much, I would get a severe case of the sleepies, but that's it.  I have been able to tolerate almost all foods.  I agree with the other posters, just keep in mind that you can have these things in moderation.

Don't worry, you're normal.  I think you just hear about the problems, because that's when people are prompted to reach out for help!  Human nature.  Be glad that you're recovery has gone so well!  :)  Oh, but as a warning...don't push the limits too much.  We do have some people that thought they didn't dump, and found out many months later that the capability is still there.  You just never know.

I did get really sleepy on Sunday when we were out. I ate some food there and it was really good. I wasn't sure of how much I was eating because I am still measuring my food. I am to only 1/2 cup per meal. But after the meal I was full and about 1 hour later I was really sleepy. Now is that because I was up late worrying about my dad who is not feeling good at all? Or did I eat too much. I didn't think I had eaten too much but I will surely be more careful in the future.
How are you feeling?

I'm 14+ months out and I really didn't have any problems either.  I was able to eat pretty much anything I wanted and only had one dumping like episode (Damn those little brownies!)

Count your blessings and keep up the great work!

Thanks Alice. I think now that I know that the doc didn't make a mistake and I AM normal I will enjoy the fact that I feel so well. Of course, I haven't eaten anything that has ever made anyone else throw up that I know of. That is sort of my way of trying to stay away from that type of behavior.

I really haven't any probs except when i didn't chew properly or ate to fast and got the foamies and then threw up and got instant relief.  If i over indulge on the wrong foods, i have also thrown up but kind of appreciate that warning that my pouch ain't gonna take it!

Glad you are doing so good and keep up the good work.
